On Sunday, 5 July 2026, the Seminary of the Latin Patriarchate participated in the First Solemn Mass of Fr. Jiries Majed Abu Khalil, celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Jifna, in an atmosphere filled with joy and thanksgiving to God for the gift of the priesthood.
In his homily, Fr. Firas Aridah expressed the Church’s joy for the new priestly vocations, emphasizing that the priesthood is a call to self-giving, love, and the faithful service of the People of God. He offered the newly ordained priest a series of spiritual and pastoral exhortations, encouraging him to remain faithful to the Sacrament of Reconciliation so that his heart may be continually renewed by God’s grace. He also urged him to listen to people with love and patience, accompany them in both their joys and their sufferings, and be a shepherd who remains close to his flock, present among them with humility and a spirit of service, bearing witness to Christ at all times.
At the conclusion of the celebration, Fr. Jiries expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Seminary of the Latin Patriarchate, represented by its Rector, Fr. Bernard Poggi, as well as to the Seminary’s priests, seminarians, and religious sisters, in appreciation for the formation, accompaniment, and support he received throughout his years of preparation for the sacred priesthood.
The newly ordained priest also conveyed his sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the preparation and success of the celebration, expressing his deep appreciation for the genuine love and dedicated efforts that surrounded him on this memorable day.
Congratulations to Fr. Jiries Abu Khalil on this precious gift. May the Lord abundantly bless his priestly ministry and grant him many fruitful years in the service of God and His Church.
