Friday, 3 July 2026 – On the Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Latin Patriarchal Seminary celebrated the priestly ordination of their son, Deacon of the Gospel Jreis Majed Abu Khalil, during a solemn Eucharistic celebration held at the Church of the Holy Family in Ramallah. The Mass was presided over by His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and concelebrated by numerous bishops and priests. Also in attendance were the seminarians, the Seminary’s religious sisters and staff, the family of the newly ordained priest, and large numbers of religious men and women, faithful, relatives, and friends.
In his homily, His Beatitude emphasized that the priestly vocation finds its true meaning and lasting foundation in Christ, the cornerstone, from whom the Christian community draws its strength and bears fruit. He encouraged the newly ordained priest to make the Lord Jesus the foundation and constant reference point of his ministry, to become a living stone in the building up of the Church, and to serve as a faithful witness to the Gospel and a devoted shepherd of the people entrusted to his care, following the example of the Apostles who proclaimed the Good News of salvation to the world.
At the conclusion of the celebration, the gathered faithful offered prayers for the newly ordained priest, asking the Lord to accompany him with His grace, bless his priestly ministry, and make him a faithful witness to the Gospel and to the mission of the Church wherever he may serve.
